The Britain-Russia Centre

The Britain-Russia Centre and British East-West Centre facilitate professional contacts between the United Kingdom and the new countries formerly part of the Soviet Union. They promote political and economic reform, and develop long-term connections between decision makers and opinion formers in partner countries. The centres work in consultation with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the British Council, as well as with organisations and individuals in the partner countries.
The library collection reflects all political views and covers most aspects of Russia and the countries of the former Soviet Union, with the emphasis on literature, history, social sciences and the arts. The holdings are principally in English or Russian, although some other languages are also represented.
Members receive The British East-West Journal, containing informed and independent writing, together with regular mailings about forthcoming events at the Centre in London and elsewhere, and about other activities that may be of interest. These include receptions and talks on a wide range of subjects in English, Russian and other languages.
